 |  | Description The Janus 6601R 16 bay SAS/SATA II to 4Gb Fibre RAID offers storage of up to 24.0TB. Units are standard with dual, redundant controllers, dual 4Gb Fibre hosts, 1GB memory cache (upgradeable to 4GB), & redundant 460W power supplies. RAID0, 1, 3, 5, 0+1, 30, 50, 6, 6+ (triple parity), JBOD, & NRAID supported, with up to 16 separate RAID arrays. Available with battery backup. Standard 3 year warranty with 5 year option available. O/S independent. Advanced GUI for easy maintenance and monitoring. Fully modularized design allows quick parts replacement for high availability. Accepts SAS or SATA II drives. The Janus6601R features dual active-active controller redundancy to ensure flawless, non-stop operation. All major components in the Janus6601R are redundant and hot-swappable, making the unit an incredibly fault-tolerant and error-free enterprise class data storage system. Snapshot technology provides an additional layer of data protection. A JBOD expansion feature can reduce the total cost of ownership of a RaidWeb storage solution. Accepts three JBOD units, making total capacity over 100 TB. The Janus 6601R contains the following functions: - Snapshot: The snapshot is done at the array and block level by leveraging the computing power of the RAID system. Snapshot is host-independent and application-independent, causing less performance impact comparing to host-based snapshot software solutions. The user can restore data by using snapshot restore function. As a data image can be roller back to a snapshot immediately, user may resume applications without waiting.
- Innovative Array Structure: The Janus 6601 hierarchically organizes storage objects. With this structure, physical drives are combined into Disk Groups (DG). Disk Groups are subdivided into Logical Disks (LD) where arrays are created. Lastly, Logical Disk can be combined or stripped together to form Volumes. Either volumes or LD can be pointed to a LUN which are then presented to the host computer.
- Online Expansion/Defragmentation: New physical disks can be added by expansion of a Disk Group (DG) while the unit remains online. During the process of expanding Disk Groups, defragmentation can be selected to move unused capacity to the ending LBA of a Disk Group. Defragmentation can also be selected at anytime there is unused storage space residing between Logical Disks.
- Online Expansion/Shrinking: Logical Disk (LD) Online Expansion can increase the capacity of an online LUN, instead of having to create a separate partition for unused capacity or capacity gained from Disk Group Expansion; now your storage can dynamically grow as your demands grow. In the event of overestimating requirements for Logical Disk capacity, shrinking can be used reduce the allocated storage of a Logical Disk.
- Array Recovery Utility: The JanusRAID2 series now provides an Array Recovery Utility (ARU) that can aid a user in the event of multiple drive failures corrupting the RAID array of a Logical Disk and/or volumes. The ARU enables users to recover lost disk members of a Disk Group, and will automatically recover Logical Disks and Volumes.
- Global or Local Spare: With the new JanusRAID2 storage structure, local and global spares can be configured. Local spares will belong to specific Disk Groups and will only replace faulty drives in a specific Disk Group. Meanwhile, Global Spares will replace faulty disk in any available Disk Group.
- Disk Self Test automatically tests RAID hard drive health. DST performs write, servo analysis, & read scan tests; the test results are displayed on the LCD & Hyperterminal outputs.
- Disk Scrubbing uses idle time to test disks. If a sector is corrupted, DS regenerates data from other RAID member disks & writes it to an uncorrupted sector. DS prevents having multiple corrupted sectors in a single stripe, one of the main causes of data loss.
- Disk Cloning used with the SATA SMART function, determines the optimum time for the system to begin cloning a failing drive to a system hot spare disk. The cloned disk automatically takes over array function, eliminating degraded performance during rebuilds.
- Web Based GUI: Embedded graphic user interface) management interface can be accessed through a web browser. The GUI is java-based, and can configure arrays, slice sizes, lun mapping, etc. and also allows remote monitoring of drive health, fan, and power supplies.
- Greater than 2TB slices: Two firmware options are available to surpass the 2 terabyte limitation; 16byte CDB and variable sector size. With either of these functions enabled, users are able to create slices and map LUNs greater than 2TB to their respective host channels.
- Background Initialization: With most RAIDs, initialization process occurs with the unit offline, and inaccessible. With background initialization, the RAID array can be accessed during the initialization process so that the unit can be setup without having to wait several hours to complete initialization.
- Battery Backup (BBU): An optional BBU can be installed to ensure data integrity in the event of a power outage. The BBU provides power to the on-board cache of the RAID controller in the event of a power outage. This will allow any data that is still stored on the cache to be saved until power is restored. Once power is restored, the RAID controller will flush the cache to drives.
