Description New! The 2U Janus 4378 is designed for superior enterprise or small business performance. Its Intel IOP333 processor, SATA II internal architecture, and possible 2GB cache provides optimum transfer speed. Standard with RAID6 protection, which allows for the simultaneous failure of 2 hard drives without data loss. Operating system independent & transparent with Windows, Linux, Novell, UNIX, or Mac based servers. On-line expansion allows the user to add drives to an existing array without interrupting operation. Available with a battery backup. Dual flash ROM for incresed availability and reliability. The Janus 4378 contains the following functions: - Extreme Performance: x4 PCI-e provided 1GBps host-transferring bandwidth with upgraded Intel IOP333 CPUdelivers high performance for heavy duty storage applications.
- Disk Self Test automatically tests RAID hard drive health. DST performs write, servo analysis, & read scan tests; the test results are displayed on the LCD & Hyperterminal outputs.
- Disk Scrubbing uses idle time to test disks. If a sector is corrupted, DS regenerates data from other RAID member disks & writes it to an uncorrupted sector. DS prevents having multiple corrupted sectors in a single stripe, one of the main causes of data loss.
- Disk Cloning used with the SATA SMART function, determines the optimum time for the system to begin cloning a failing drive to a system hot spare disk. The cloned disk automatically takes over array function, eliminating degraded performance during rebuilds.
