Description

The Janus6603R is a dual controller, iSCSI to SAS/SATA II RAID system. Its compact 3U - 16 bay chassis features hot-swappable power supplies and fans. The RAID controller, fans, and power supplies are modularized, allowing for easy removal from the rear of the unit. System setup is simple using a web browser, which allows easy remote configuration and monitoring. Copy-on-Write snapshot functionality is built into the controller to help protect your data. iSCSI protocol uses TCP/IP to transfer data, which only requires an ethernet interface, and enables easy integration into your current network infrastructure. iSCSI encapsulates SCSI commands and data into TCP/IP packets to transfer through a ethernet network. By using TCP/IP transfer, you ensure that the transmission is successful, providing a reliable means of transfering data. Also, using your current network infrastructure reduces the total cost of ownership. Five year warranty available. VMWare certified.

The Janus 6603R contains the following functions:

• Green Features: Energy efficient design with high efficiency, load balance power module (with Power-FAN speed control), System-FAN speed control and disk spin-down function.
• Snapshot and Rollback:  The snapshot is done at the array and block level by leveraging the computing power of the RAID system. It is host-independent, and application-independent. It may cause less performance impact comparing to host-based snapshot software solutions. User is also allowed to restore data by using snapshot restore function. As a data image can be roller back to a snapshot immediately, user may resume applications without downtime.
• Full Group of iSCSI services: Link Aggregation (802.3ad) and jumbo frame support for maximizing bandwidth and performance, Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP) authentication, Header Digest and Data Digest help to guarantee iSCSI data, Internet Storage Name Service (iSNS) for helping management of iSCSI devices and support multiple iSCSI targets up to 8 sets.
• Centralized Monitoring: RAIDGuard Central (RGC), a free centralized management utility provides centralized monitoring multiple RAID systems by through Ethernet at a local area network. Easier install RGC to a normal PC as an agent and then any PC/server could monitor to RAID system remotely. Allow customer to warning the engineer real-time with mail sending and most popular web messenger: MSN.
• Innovative Array Structuring: The system features a new innovate array structure that hierarchically organizes storage objects. With this structure, physical drives are combined into Disk Groups (DG). DGs are subdivided into Logical Disks (LDs) where arrays are created. LDs can be combined together to form a stripped Volumes. Either Volumes or LDs can be pointed to a LUN which are then presented to the host computer.
• Array Recovery: The system provides an Array Recovery Utility that can aid a user in the event of multiple drive failures corrupting the RAID array of a Logical Disk and/or volumes. The feature enables users to recover lost disk members of a Disk Group, and will automatically recover Logical Disks and Volumes.
• JBOD Expansion: This feature provides users the option to attach external SAS JBOD unit to expand the capacity of their storage solution. By cascading the RAID-less SAS JBOD unit helps reduce the total cost of ownership.
• Global or Dedicated Cache by Volume: Controller cache can be configured as Global or Dedicated for specific volumes. This function provides users the ability to dedicate more cache resources to a mission-critical volume to enable higher performance and reliability.
• Battery Backup (BBU): An optional BBU can be installed to ensure data integrity in the event of a power outage. The BBU provides power to the on-board cache of the RAID controller in the event of a power outage. This will allow any data that is still stored on the cache to be saved until power is restored. Once power is restored, the RAID controller will flush the cache to drives.
