Memory upgrades and battery backup units are also available - please contact your RaidWeb representative for more details. The 3U Janus 6641 is designed for superior enterprise performance. Its 80331 667MHz processor, SATA II internal architecture, and possible 1GB cache provide optimum transfer speed. Standard with RAID6 or TP protection, which allows for the simultaneous failure of 2 or even 3 hard drives without data loss. Operating system independent & transparent with Windows, Linux, Novell, UNIX, or Mac based servers. On-line expansion allows the user to add drives to an existing array without interrupting operation. Available with a battery backup. Dual flash ROM onboard. The Janus 6641 contains the following built-in functions: - Disk Self Test automatically tests RAID hard drive health. DST performs write, servo analysis, & read scan tests; the test results are displayed on the LCD & Hyperterminal outputs.
- Disk Scrubbing uses idle time to test disks. If a sector is corrupted, DS regenerates data from other RAID member disks & writes it to an uncorrupted sector. DS prevents having multiple corrupted sectors in a single stripe, one of the main causes of data loss.
- Disk Cloning used with the SATA SMART function, determines the optimum time for the system to begin cloning a failing drive to a system hot spare disk. The cloned disk automatically takes over array function, eliminating degraded performance during rebuilds.
